Who owns Zomato

Zomato does not have a single owner. Its parent, Eternal Limited, is a listed company whose shares are spread among institutions and the public. Two holdings are named in its company profile: Info Edge (India), an early investor, with about 12.4%, and co-founder Deepinder Goyal with about 3.8%.

Because it is listed in India, anyone with a trading account can own a part of it.

Why Zomato is now called Eternal

The new name applies to the company, not the app. By early 2025 the group had four sizeable businesses: Zomato for food delivery, Blinkit for groceries, Hyperpure for restaurant supplies and District for going out. Management renamed the parent company Eternal to separate the group from its best-known brand. The name had already been in use inside the company since the Blinkit acquisition.

For how each of those businesses earns money, see our explainer on the Zomato business model.

Is Zomato a Chinese company?

No. A listed company can have shareholders from many countries, and that does not change where the company comes from. Zomato was founded in India by Indian founders, is run from Gurugram, and is registered and listed in India.
