A ranking is only as good as its method. Every Top10at ranking follows these rules, and each one prints its own method above the list.
One metric, stated
The order of a ranking is decided by a single measurable metric, such as market capitalisation, revenue, assets under management or branch count. The metric and its unit are named at the top of the list.
A date for the data
Figures change. Each ranking gives the date its data refers to, and each entry shows the value used.
Sources you can open
Figures come from annual reports, exchange filings, regulators and industry bodies. They are listed at the end of the article.
Scope and exclusions
Each ranking says what is included, for example listed companies headquartered in India, and what is left out and why.
When we cannot rank
Some lists cannot be ordered fairly because comparable figures are not published. Those appear as an unranked selection, and the article says how entries were chosen.
No paid placement
Companies cannot pay to be included, to move up, or to have a competitor removed.
