Staffing companies employ people on their own payroll and place them with client companies, for a few months or for years. They handle hiring, pay, statutory benefits and compliance; the client gets the work done without adding permanent headcount.
The industry is led by two large listed companies, Quess and TeamLease, followed by the Indian arms of global groups and a set of specialists. This list covers eight that an employer is most likely to shortlist.
How this list was put together
- First three. The three largest staffing companies in India: Quess and TeamLease by published FY26 revenue, and Randstad India as the largest foreign-owned operator by payroll headcount.
- Fourth onward. An editorial selection of companies with a distinct specialism, in the order we chose. These companies are not ranked by size against each other, because most are private and publish no comparable figures.
- Who can appear. Companies whose main business in India is staffing: employing people on their own payroll and deploying them at clients. Pure recruitment (permanent hiring) firms and job portals are not included.
- Figures. Each entry shows the most recent figure the company or a filing has published, with its date.

How to choose a staffing company
Match the company to the role
General staffing companies such as Quess and TeamLease cover the widest range of roles and locations. For field sales, retail promoters or merchandisers, a specialist that also supervises the team on the ground can be simpler to manage. For IT and engineering contractors, look at the specialised staffing arms of the larger firms.
Check compliance, not only the fee
The staffing company is the legal employer. Ask how it handles provident fund, ESI, gratuity and the new labour codes, how quickly it pays associates, and whether it can show challans and returns for your deployments.
Ask about coverage in your cities
National reach on a slide does not always mean a recruiter in every district. Ask for the number of associates already deployed in the cities you need.
Limits of this list
Only Quess and TeamLease publish audited Indian revenue for FY26. Randstad India, ManpowerGroup India and Adecco India report as part of global groups, and TopHawks, CIEL HR and Genius HRTech are compared on the figures they have made public. Headcount figures are not all measured the same way: some are year-end totals, some are company statements. Nothing here is a recommendation for a specific contract; ask each company for references in your industry.
